Under California's old NEM 2.0 rules, you got paid full retail rate for electricity you exported to the grid. Solar without battery made financial sense.
Under NEM 3.0, that export credit drops by roughly 75%. The math changes: a solar-only system pays back much slower. But pair solar with a battery, and you store your daytime production for use during expensive 4–9pm peak hours — capturing that value yourself instead of giving it back to the grid for pennies.

We're a Tesla Certified Installer, and we lead with the Powerwall 3 on the majority of our jobs. It's the cleanest, most capable residential battery on the market today — designed for whole-home backup right out of the box.
